Since 2004, Paul White has served as editor in chief of Sound on Sound magazine, but you may have been reading his articles and reviews since 1984 when he was writing for Home Recording Magazine. Over the decades, his articles have introduced us to new products and ideas and we’ve especially come to rely on Sound on Sound’s reviews. They’re always detailed, spot on and, above all, true. Paul has taught us not only what gear to use but why, where, when and how to use it. His writing is compelling. His passion, excitement and humor shine through.

In this episode, you’ll meet the man behind the glossy pages of the magazine and discover why Sound of Sound has been so good for so long. At University, Paul studied electronics and his first job was designing gear. Yet way before that, since early childhood, music and recording were his passion. Along the way, he’s composed and played music, built studios, engineered and produced.

In this interview, we also discovered that Paul White is part of the duo, The Cydonia Collective. A mission to vast create cinematic sonic landscapes while abusing a plug-in or two in the process.
